Spanning four continents, multiple genres and subjects, Ernie Pouttu’s cinematography has brought to life numerous characters and stories on screen.

Ernie Pouttu was nominated for the European Cinematography Award in 2020 for his work the film Sandcastles, directed by Sabine Bou-Jaoude. The Arabic-language film was shot in Beirut, Lebanon and follows a young woman as she navigates her daily life while in search of a better future.

His work has appeared at the Florence Film Awards, Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes, ARFF Barcelona, Kyev International Film Festival (Ukraine), NewFilmmakers NY, LIFF Lebanese Independent Film Festival and World of Women Cinema film festivals — to name a few.

Sandcastles

A young Lebanese woman, Samar, navigates her daily life whilst trying to find a better future for herself. One fateful night she takes a shared ride home from work and the events that follow push her to make the decision to leave Lebanon.
